Preparedness ...An everyday task for an everyday life

Being prepared for emergencies is crucial at home, school, work and in your community.Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. It can force you to evacuate your neighborhood, workplace or school or can confine you to your home. What would you do if basic services -- water, gas, electricity or telephones--were cut off? Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone right away.

Do You Need Someone to Speak at your Next Meeting?

If the answer to this question is yes, then you are on the right page. The American Red Cross has a Speakers Bureau that consists of staff and volunteer experts on the American Red Cross and what we do.

Our team speak to church groups, civic organizations, business associations, school groups, youth groups, and other community groups on a regular basis. We would welcome the opportunity to share what we do with your group.

All of our topics can be formatted to time lengths between ten and thirty minutes long and are appropriate for groups of two to two thousand. We do ask for requests to be at least one to two weeks in advance, whenever possible.

Speakers are available to share the following topics
with your group:

  • General Overview of the Red Cross and what we do
  • Disaster Relief Presentation (how we respond to disasters and help disaster victims)
  • Disaster Preparedness Presentations
    • Fire Safety, Hurricanes, Floods, Senior Safety, Terrorism
  • Business Continuity for Small Businesses
  • Armed Forces Emergency Services Presentation (How we serve the military)
  • Leaving a Legacy: Estate Planning & Charitable Gifts
  • Getting Involved: Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals & Groups
  • Ready When the Time Comes: Corporate Volunteerism

For more specific information or to request a speaker, please call our Community Outreach Specialist, Rigoberto Molina at (954) 797-3817
or e-mail him at molinar@usa.redcross.org.
